But where are the best places to live in Bristol as a student? There’s something for everyone, so read on to discover which area suits you best…

 

 

City Centre

If you love having everything at your doorstep, the city centre is the place for you. Accommodation here mostly consists of converted office blocks or warehouses, offering a modernised living experience. However, this prime location can come with higher prices and limited parking.

    • Distance from UWE Bristol: Frenchay (5.7 miles), Glenside (4 miles), and Bower Ashton (3.7 miles)

    • Distance from the University of Bristol: The main campus is a short 10-20 minute walk away.

 

 

Gloucester Road

Gloucester Road is very popular with students due to its urban appeal and more affordable rent. It has a lively atmosphere with quirky shops, independent cafes, and bars. Depending on where you are on Gloucester Road, the city centre is within easy walking distance.

    • Distance from UWE Bristol: Frenchay (2.9 miles), Glenside (3.2 miles), and Bower Ashton (4.5 miles)

    • Distance from the University of Bristol: About a 30-minute walk.

 

 

Horfield

Horfield is a favourite among UWE Bristol students because of its proximity to both Gloucester Road and the Frenchay campus. It offers affordable rent and generally easy parking.

    • Distance from UWE Bristol: Frenchay (2.3 miles), Glenside (2.7 miles), and Bower Ashton (4.7 miles)

Montpelier, St Paul’s, and Stokes Croft

    • Distance from the University of Bristol: Campus can be as close as a 10-minute walk or as far as a 45-minute walk, so check your property’s location!

 

 

Cotham

Cotham is a leafy residential area for those who enjoy being closer to nature. It’s popular with students due to its proximity to both Gloucester Road and Whiteladies Road.

    • Distance from UWE Bristol: Frenchay (6.1 miles), Glenside (4.3 miles), and Bower Ashton (3.4 miles)

    • Distance from the University of Bristol: The walk to campus ranges from 2 minutes to 20 minutes.

 

 

Clifton

    • Distance from the University of Bristol: The furthest Clifton house is only a 15-minute walk from campus.

Park Street in Bristol is ideal for students due to its proximity to the University of Bristol and a vibrant student community. It offers diverse cafes, bars, restaurants, shops, and a dynamic nightlife with many pubs and clubs. The historic and scenic area includes landmarks like Brandon Hill and Cabot Tower.
