University of Bristol campus and UWE guide: your route from our door

Start your booking

This page takes you from your door to every University of Bristol campus and every UWE campus. UWE Bristol (the University of the West of England) has sites across the city too. Choose where you live, and each building below shows how long you’ll walk, cycle or ride the bus.

The furthest campus is Langford, the vet school, which the University’s 2026 page places 14 miles south of Bristol (University of Bristol). Yet its bus, the U2, leaves from Park Street Top, at the head of Park Street. That stop is just 2 minutes’ walk from 78 Park Street and Ashington House.

So how far is your campus, really? We mapped about 900 routes from our front doors on OpenStreetMap. Put any of them into your own maps app. OpenStreetMap is the free public map anyone can check, so nothing rests on our word alone.

Know your route before you’ve even unpacked, and you get to be the student who’s never late. Still choosing an area? See where you should live in Bristol as a student.

Find your route

Times below run from our nearest home to our furthest. Walking times are left out for sites over 45 minutes on foot from most of our homes.

Pick your home and your university, and the cards below will show your own minutes.

On the BVSc, the five-year vet degree, years 1 to 3 are mainly in Clifton, with coach trips to Langford (offer holders). Years 4 and 5 are mainly at Langford (BVSc), with a free U2 bus pass, held as an mTicket in the First Bus app (key information).

We mapped these times on OpenStreetMap, walking at 5 km/h, and took bus times from the October 2026 timetables. Buses change, so check live times with First Bus before you travel.

What’s the daily trip to Langford or Glenside campus like?

Picture a fourth-year vet student who has kept her home near the top of Park Street since first year. Most of her teaching is now at Langford, but she never had to move house. Each morning she walks up to Park Street Top and catches the U2 on her free bus pass. No change of bus. The ride takes 37 to 47 minutes. After a long day, she rides back with a friend, and they walk home together from Queens Road. Her parents know the last weekday bus leaves Langford at 21:39, so nobody waits up wondering. From her front door, the furthest campus is still one bus away.

Picture a UWE nursing student at Glenside who lives with us near Park Street. Her morning starts with a walk down to The Centre, Bristol’s main cluster of bus stops. Route 46 leaves stop C9 every 20 to 40 minutes on weekdays. She leaves early. The ride takes 24 to 46 minutes, and her first class won’t wait. On Saturdays it runs hourly from the same stop. There’s no Sunday 46, which she planned around from the first week. On late days she travels back with a friend, well before the last weekday bus at 21:22. Some weeks she cycles there in about half an hour instead, and still makes her 9am.

Which Bristol student bus pass should you buy?

Your best ticket depends on where your lectures are. If you walk to Clifton most days, you may only need a single ticket now and then. For 2026/27, a First Bus student single in the Bristol zone costs £2.34 (First Bus). Student prices are sold only in the First Bus app. Download it in your first week in Bristol, before you board.

2026/27 student prices from First Bus, University of Bristol and First Bus, UWE, updated 14 October 2026.

Starting in January? A Teaching Block 2 ticket, at £320, runs from 9 January 2027. University of Bristol Teaching Block 2 begins on 18 January 2027 (University of Bristol). Induction for most UWE January courses starts on 18 January 2027 too (UWE Bristol).

Two details are worth knowing. For the U2 to Langford, you need a West of England zone ticket, not a Bristol zone one (First Bus). From 1 January 2027, the national cap on bus singles falls to £2, below the student single (GOV.UK). Compare both in the app before you buy.
